On Wednesday October 3rd, 2012 desigNYC, a nonprofit organization committed to improving life in NYC through the power of design, will celebrate its 2012 collaborations between designers and nonprofits at its annual event and exhibit opening. desigNYC demonstrates the impact of design by connecting nonprofits, community groups and city agencies with passionate, professional designers interested in the public good. Launched at the beginning of 2012, desigNYC’s third round of project collaborations, under the annual theme of Recharging Communities, connected 15 extraordinary organizations with close to 30 talented design professionals who are leaders in the fields of architectural, landscape, interior, experience and communications design.

“Recharging Communities supports projects working in areas as diverse and challenging as human trafficking, public transportation, prisoner reentry, food justice, workforce development and sustainable urban revitalization.”

The exhibit showcasing the work is hosted for the second time by GD Cucine, 227 West 17^th Street, a high-end Italian kitchen showroom cum gallery and will run from October 3rd through October 15, 2012. The showroom is open 10-6 PM everday of the week. A press preview will take place on the 3rd from 5-6PM (details TBD).

The exhibit, curated by Laetitia Wolff, was designed by Landor Associates.

Related public programs will include lectures and talks with presentations by our current team members, moderated panels in the context of ArchTober, the NY month-long festival of design+architecture, and training workshops on TUES OCT 9 and 16 hosted by SVA's newly opened Product Design department, 136 West 21st street.
